What Are the 5 System Integration Methods?

System integration is the process of combining two or more systems together into one larger system. System integration aims to create a single, streamlined platform that all users within an organization can use. Using effective system integration methods can save cost, and time, and improve the overall performance of the architecture.

It allows organizations to use their existing technology and software assets to customize them for specific needs. With this, they don’t need to repeatedly develop everything from scratch every time a user needs something changed (or added). This article explains the five system integration methods.

Point-to-point integration

Point-to-point system integration is a process in which two or more systems are connected in a way that lets them communicate with each other. System integrators use this method to connect two different networks. For example as a private and public network, or even two different computer systems within the same company.

Point-to-point system integration is often used when connecting software applications that different companies or organizations develop. In this case, it is necessary for one piece of software to communicate with another piece of software without using any other network resources.

Vertical integration

Vertical system integration is an approach to building products that allows them to be designed and produced to maximize efficiency, minimize waste, and create a seamless process for the customer.

A vertical system integrator is an organization that designs, manufactures, and markets products for large-scale customers. They typically work with large companies or government agencies who want to purchase their products rather than buy them from suppliers.

They also often work within industries such as aerospace and defense, medical equipment manufacturing, biofuel production. Specifically in those industries where large amounts of specialized equipment are involved in the production process.

Horizontal integration

Horizontal system integration combines multiple components of a company to create a more efficient, effective, and streamlined approach to business operations. The idea behind horizontal system integration is that it allows for the easy flow of information between different departments within a company, which helps to integrate all the different functions into one cohesive whole.

System integrators use this method to integrate data across multiple sources and platforms, allowing for one unified view of information across all related departments within a company.

Start integration

Start system integration is a process that integrates your company’s systems into the SAP. Integrating the different systems allows users to access data from multiple sources and provides seamless user experience integration across these systems.

System integrators use this method in various ways, but it is commonly used to provide a single view of customer data across all departments. This allows for better communication between departments and reduces the need for redundant workarounds.

Common data format

Common data format system integration creates a common data format between two or more separate software applications. Additionally, it can be done using a common data format specification or a common data format library.

The goal of this process is to make it easier for users to share information with each other. It allows developers to create applications that are compatible with one another.

Summary

You have learned the 5 system integration methods, so now you know how to integrate your systems. The first step is to create a unified architecture. The second is determining which integration method will be most effective for your company.

The third is to identify the types of data you want to share between your systems. The fourth is to determine how each piece of data should be formatted. Finally, you need to decide which systems will be used as sources and which will be used as destinations.
